Stuff I did today before filing taxes.

Get coffee
Review tax info
Walk around house
Get more coffee
Remove winter clothes from closets
Give clothes to friend
Call someone about business
Do laundry
Clean office
Eat
Drink some orange juice and water
Check mail
Call mom
Wander aimlessly around yard
Update iTunes
Look at text message
Return text message
Make list of what I'm doing tonight
Realize list of what to do tonight is blank
Add movies to Netflix queue
Set aside gear to go for walk
Move gear set aside for walk, so it will be there tomorrow
Check to make sure I have food for dinner
Organize food so it's all there when I cook dinner
Go outside again
Look at sky
Pontificate on how nice it is to stop and smell the roses
Realize I don't have roses
Think about getting roses
Check weather underground
Read about 300 million pounds of dirt blown by tornadoes in southern Oklahoma
Imagine 300 million pounds of dirt
Read Huffington Post

Then finally...
Finish taxes
File electronically

Yay!

I'm glad I'm done.

suddenly makes all the other things seem great.

I was on a trip until Monday and felt pretty draggy today. But suddenly, when faced with the taxes, I was able to catch up all the laundry, the dishes hubby left me (four days worth), unpack the car, clean all the trash out of it from the 15 hour drive, and numerous other things.

And all that was done rather than fill out .... the extension form we are doing. LOL.

I'd think the best way to get through that would be with a strong sense of humor.

but it does. Then when it's over I'm very happy. That I don't have to do it for another year!

Hope you can get yours done fairly soon. If not, you can always enjoy doing laundry & dishes.

before I buckle down and finish.

I own a small S-corp and NEVER procrastinate on that tax return (well, I let the pros do those since I've been audited 3x).

But my own?? Down to the wire annually.

A glutton for punishment.

I sent it to my brother, who is undergoing something similar.

Me--I pay a CPA because there is no way on God's green earth I am going to put myself through the hell known as a tax return.

Friggin ridiculous. And every year both parties say 'we're going to simplify the tax code!' and everyone applauds.

I'll tells ya how to simplify it. No one who makes anything under (a dollar more than whatever I make any given year) doesn't owe anything and doesn't have to file anything!

Just a few more details, some inner conversation and thoughts. Pretty soon you'll be spending all your time writing, and merely imagining all that stuff you did.

You're very organized.

I work at home so I obviously like taking breaks before doing something I don't want to do. Sometimes I talk on phone and clean the office at the same time, lol. Funny thing, I still get more done at home than I did in an office environment.
