(24,146 posts)i'm not much into star wars, but now i'm actually a bit excited for this.

(12,132 posts)I managed to even forget a certain Mr. Binks. I also don't see myself as fat or balding - when I look in the mirror I see the slim hippie that first saw Star Wars in the theater when it came out in 77.
I've been a Jedi in my mind ever since.

(38,506 posts)The speakers in the theater kinda skeered me.

(12,132 posts)and that was the first movie I had ever seen that wasn't a disney/kids movie and I had no idea stuff like that could happen in a movie.
Wait, no, I guess the original True Grit wasn't technically a kids movie. I was 5 when my dad took me to see that - he told me it starred John Wayne and I was terribly excited until it started and I discovered that I had confused John Wayne for Bruce Wayne and I was not seeing a Batman movie.

(14,400 posts)or, if I'm feeling generous, going on my own but I will be watching it on the biggest screen I can find.

(12,132 posts)I guess it depends if they are just blowing it up to throw it on the imax screen or if there is a version filmed for imax. I hate when they take a regular movie and blow it up and they look all weird because the print* wasn't meant for imax.
*I guess it's mostly all digital now but blowing it up digitally is even worse than zooming a film...
But yeah, I will find the biggest screen the movie was filmed for if that makes any sense.
And I will not watch any of that 3D crap.

(34,131 posts)I never could stay awake to watch any one of those all the way through. In the middle of the clone war battle, my husband had to wake me up because I was snoring and the other people in the theater were complaining about the noise!
my wife falls asleep in movies whether she likes them or not. Then again, she often falls asleep in the middle of a sentence at night watching tv. She snores pretty good too.

(34,131 posts)But I haven't been to a movie since I got the new knees so i can't test that.
I'd just as soon watch movies at home anyway. Theater tickets are too expensive, the snacks are way over priced, and I have to wear shoes and a bra when we go out. We can buy at DVD for less than a pair of theater tickets and watch the movie as many times as we want.
At home I can wear my pajamas, pause the movie when I need a break, and make my own snacks! And if I fall asleep, I can back up to where I remember what was going on and watch it again.

(12,132 posts)but I reserve it for big things like this. For all the same reasons you mention. Except at home I rarely bother with pajamas.
I am hoping we can get in at the big theater downtown Orlando. They have super wide, cushy leather seats with a foot of armrest between each and a kitchen that makes awesome nachos and they have Yuengling on draft. All terribly overpriced but delicious and worth putting on pants.
