Going to Mexico City in about a month: Give me tips or suggestions

I'll be there for 3 days (in their entirety), one of which will be a photography workshop in Xochimilco (at the Island of the Dolls actually). Tips or suggestions on what I should do with the other two days?

I was there a year ago. Locals that I know told me not to use the regular street cabs. They said that they stage kidnappings. If you are in a nice hotel, let the hotel arrange transport.

Be careful if you work out. Mexico City is at a higher elevation than Denver. I quickly lost my breath on a treadmill.

Can't say much for tourist activities. But it is a large and interesting city. Have fun and be aware of your safety.

Templo Mayor, definitely just go to the Zocalo and see the old colonial architecture in the historic district of the city. There are great hole in the wall restaurants all over, but do a touristy thing and have a drink in one of the rooftop terrazas to catch the sunset over the city. Go to the Alameda near the Palacio de Bellas Artes.

Can you tell I love this city? Three days isn't enough, but enjoy!! I'll be there three weeks in May/June.
