(95,337 posts)I realized that remastering Led Zeppelin songs is essentially all Jimmy Page does. In 5 years or so he'll do it again. He'll tell the press he's working on 'new music' but he never does. He just keeps remastering the same Led Zeppelin songs over and over again because he knows the fans, who already bought all those other remasters will go out and buy a new set of remasters again and again and again.
And then we fans would get pissed at Robert Plant because Plant won't do the tour with Led Zeppelin.
Then it dawned on me.
While Page has spent the last 30+ years basically reissuing Led Zeppelin remasters over and over again, Robert Plant has spent that time creating new music. Plant has put out 10 new albums. The first few albums kinda fell into that 80s pop new wave sound but then he took this turn on a musical journey with Mighty Rearranger. Now each album has it's own very unique sound, sometimes pulling from old classic standards and sometimes mixing it with new songs. For Plant, he's long since moved on from Led Zeppelin. Sure he likes to share a few songs with the fans on tour (done in his on unique way) but the guy just doesn't want to go back there.
I still love the music and they are my absolutely favorite band of all time. But no way I am dishing out all that money for the remasters. If Jimmy Page wants me to buy his music - PLAY SOMETHING NEW. God knows the guy has the talent. I bought his Outrider album back in the 80s.
