Good luck, Michigan. Just heard on the news that all mushroom hunters are required to be

"certified" to the tune of a $175 fee & sitting my ass in class for a day. No.Fucking.Way. I'm almost 60 & I've been hunting mushrooms since I was 5. I know what to pick and what to leave alone. This sounds like a bs bid to pay for Snyder's millionaire tax cuts. I don't recall reading about rampant mushroom poisoning. Another solution in search of a problem.

I'm guessing that a "mushroom expert" who is a friend of the governor lobbied for this and will be paid from this fee.

Those jackasses are all for 'less government' unless it involves the LGBT community or women.

And their GOP friends/cronies, who stand to make a profit!

I don't understand how regular Americans haven't seen through this facade.

... is that the soi-disant "expert" won't know a mushroom from an Oreo, and will spread false information, leading to a spike in people getting sick from mushrooms, and thus justifying the "certification."

especially if the common man is making any money from common or private areas. I'm in Ohio, so I look for this to spread among these idiot RWNJ governors.

leaving the remains behind?

My old man was a mushroom hunter supreme. I can just imagine where he would put that $175. And then expecting him to sit in a class for a day with no beer? fugetaboudit

I wish my Dad's cousin had passed along his mushroom hunting spots before he died. He used to bring us a 5 gallon bucket of morels in the spring. We would have a mushroom feast, and then dry the rest.

But he didn't. So somewhere in northeastern Indiana is a mushroom nirvana just waiting to be discovered anew.

I was raised near a lot of rivers and streams in teh Pac. NW and it was normal to drop a hook for dinner.
Then someone had the brilliant idea to charge for that right.

there are areas where no government makes perfect sense.
