"certified" to the tune of a $175 fee & sitting my ass in class for a day. No.Fucking.Way. I'm almost 60 & I've been hunting mushrooms since I was 5. I know what to pick and what to leave alone. This sounds like a bs bid to pay for Snyder's millionaire tax cuts. I don't recall reading about rampant mushroom poisoning. Another solution in search of a problem.

And their GOP friends/cronies, who stand to make a profit!
I don't understand how regular Americans haven't seen through this facade.

(17,183 posts)... is that the soi-disant "expert" won't know a mushroom from an Oreo, and will spread false information, leading to a spike in people getting sick from mushrooms, and thus justifying the "certification."

My old man was a mushroom hunter supreme. I can just imagine where he would put that $175. And then expecting him to sit in a class for a day with no beer? fugetaboudit

(2,092 posts)I wish my Dad's cousin had passed along his mushroom hunting spots before he died. He used to bring us a 5 gallon bucket of morels in the spring. We would have a mushroom feast, and then dry the rest.
But he didn't. So somewhere in northeastern Indiana is a mushroom nirvana just waiting to be discovered anew.

Then someone had the brilliant idea to charge for that right.
there are areas where no government makes perfect sense.
