My parents installed a stair lift (ride the chair up the rails) today

And I knew it was coming.

But somehow I wasn't prepared to accept that the might need it.

My dad will be 84 in June. My mom just turned 81.

They are amazingly active for their age.

The fact that I acknowledge their activity makes it harder for me to deal with the chair lift.

they are taking care to reduce their risk of falling and injuring themselves (or worse). Does it relieve your mind to think of the safety issues?

With her stenosis and vertabral arthritis, steps are getting hard.

But, private insurance and medicare (her secondary due to disability) won't pay a dime as those are considered luxuries. Apparently it's a luxury to be able to live in one's own home.
