Alexandra is the current favorite in the U.K. I hear...
No Diana, but maybe her middle name Frances.
What happened to Charlotte? I thought that was THE name...

Alice and Charlotte are London bookies' favorites, or so I read somewhere.
I'd put money on Elizabeth, Victoria, or Ann, if I had any money to throw away on bets.
Xena would be a good one, but odds are low.

The royals have long names, so there's plenty of room for all lol.

For god's sake, Diana was his mother's name.
CTyankee
(63,889 posts)feel about the way his father and Camilla carried on their affair while Diana was trying to raise her two sons. William must have seen his mother hurt by them.
I'm glad he honored his mother, too. It seems Diana has been conveniently "forgotten" by members of the royal family. I wonder if Queen Elizabeth was OK with this...
cwydro
(51,308 posts)seem to indicate that William and Harry are happy that their father is happy. I think they can honor their mother without "sticking it to" anyone.
The whole Charles and Diana thing was wrong from the beginning. Obviously, Charles and Camilla have a true love affair, and I sure won't knock them for that.

(51,308 posts)I assume you must be one of those Diana worshippers.
She was not perfect either.
I do feel sorry for her, but she was an adult when she made the decision to enter that family.
No offense intended to you at all; I just took issue with you assuming that William naming his child was some sort of vicious jab at Camilla. I don't think that at all. I think he seems to be a mature man who wanted to honor his mum. Nothing more and nothing less.
No reason to name the baby Camilla at all. Would not make any kind of sense.
CTyankee
(63,889 posts)Charles and was really manipulated. She had Charles's two sons and was evidently a good mother to them. They have turned out well, IMO.
We do agree that William wanted to honor his mum. And I like him. I just see Diana as a human being, behind all the pomp of the royal family, a woman with feelings and needs of her own.

(51,308 posts)Her death was one of those that I remember where I was when I heard about it.
Tragic all around.
I was actually dating a woman who DID worship Diana at that time lol.
She thought the royals had her killed. Hey, who knows?
CTyankee
(63,889 posts)she was jerked around by a lot of people who couldn't have cared less about her. I see her as a kind of sad and lonely girl. I remember her funeral where her sons had put a little note on her coffin. Seeing that made me tear up...
cwydro
(51,308 posts)I actually teared up during the funeral as well, though I was not a big fan of hers.
I'm of Welsh descent, and seeing the Welsh guardsmen and the Welsh flag on her coffin was just something. Her sons were very brave during the ceremony.
No doubt she would be very proud of them.

(63,889 posts)than that...
IIRC, the tunnel where her fatal accident took place is right beside the Louvre (or maybe the Musee d'Orsay -- my memory plays tricks some times) when I was there in 2012 and I realized what it was when I came out of the museum and started to walk toward the other museum. It was such a sunny and bright day but that tunnel entrance stopped me briefly and thought of that terrible photo of the wreck that killed her.

(22,885 posts)And I'm not trying to be funny.
She found out even before she married Charles that he was still in love with and seeing Camilla. She wanted to back out but by that point it was far too late. What a terrible position to be in, and not a shred of sympathy or compassion from any of the "higher-up" royals. They all thought she should shut up about it and put up with it. To them, she was nothing but a brood mare.

(63,889 posts)by the royal court. But she had the blood line...so stupid to us but I guess very important to them...
I like that she found some life in working on behalf of people wounded by hidden explosives. It was a great calling and the organization she worked with got a Nobel prize for its work.
She was a treasure, to be sure...I am very sorry she's gone...
