Ding-ding-ding Streetcar memories

Been a long time since I even thought about this. Article tells about the golden age of streetcars. Brought back memories about our hometown streetcars that ran from one end of town to the other, a short 2 miles or so. Paid your nickel for a day's ride . Then one day it was gone -

... but 'tis true, they've been a dying breed for years. I remember when daily paid compensation included "car fare," which ought to age me a bit.

My father once totalled a brand-new car broadsiding a trolley in Pittsburgh...
