So I find out second hand my brother almost died in January, his wife hates all of his

Family (because she couldn't force me to sell the house we inherited at the bottom of the market) and his friends so much, he is afraid to tell anyone.

He is a seriously overweight alcoholic who has been completely controlled by this woman from the moment they got married. He's not been allowed to socialize or invite any family or friends over for years now- so he used to do the "working late" ploy to see us. My other brother was shunned by her as well. She lies and pretends it's all down to conflicting schedules.
His friend found out because he kept calling him and he eventually answered and told him not to tell me. He's afraid, as always, of the wife blowing a gasket. They have two teenaged kids in the house and she also has not told them. Obviously they know something is up- he was in the hospital for more than two months- never seeing them- but they know to play along with Moms crazy games too.
