It looks like it may be a wild night here in Oklahoma.

Storms are heading towards Oklahoma City along I-40 from out west and another storm system is heading towards us from SW of OKC. The second system looks like it could get bad and that one will get in around 9:30pm.

Edit to add - I am a little concerned about my neighbors dogs that are outside and their owners are not home I hope that they get home before it gets bad.

to tornadoes as I could hope. While tornadoes can lower and raise I have noticed that they do follow a path of sorts if you know where a storm originates. I tend to be more concerned about hail.

The storm to the west is lifting to the north-northeast The system on the south end of it might be more problematic. We expect the storm system to reach OKC around 8:30PM.

nice dogs. I visit with them at the fence on a regular basis. I absolutely would have brought them over to my house if the owner's had not come home in time.

I knew that another neighbor had the guys' cell phone numbers so I went over to talk to her. I told her that I was concerned about the dogs being outside when the storms come in and she was going to call them. If I had not been able to talk to the other neighbor I would have brought the dogs into my house. I would not have left them outside.

It looks like any potential tornado issues would be south OKC and south from there so our neighborhood should be ok on that front. We are just waiting for the bad rainstorms to hit - again. The thunder is now starting and I expect the pouring rain to start soon. I already have my pump set up if we get so much rain that I need to drain my crawl space.

I have lived in Oklahoma for almost 19 years and I don't remember having so much rainy weather as we have had this year. We have several days of rain and then maybe one clear day and then the cycle begins again. The ground is so saturated that it is the rain version of the snow that the North gets in winter only we don't have to shovel it, just avoid road flooding and pump out whatever floods. One lake out west has had 7 feet of rain and that lake is only at 32% of capacity. Lake Hefner in OKC has had 7.5 feet of rain and is at 82 or 83% capacity. Yesterday we ran into a sink hole issue on one of the issues out west.

but this spring we've had no rain for a month other than a sprinkling last week that was predicted to measure 0.01".
And when it did rain back in March and early April, it stayed too cold for anything to start turning green.

Until just this morning. It's foggy and drizzly looking. The leaves are finally coming out a bit on the trees...

Thank goodness the dogs are inside and you are all safe.

We have good friends in Norman. My husband worked for a common Chinook company that had a contract with the FAA and spent weeks at a time in okc. I was there a free times, most recently last may. Those storms are scary. Be careful!
