Marta and I had dinner last week at Stokes. We go there every few months. They offered a hot sauce made in the Omaha area not far from our home. I loved it. I had to go buy a bottle today.
Unless something special is going on we have Mexican every Saturday night at home. Our kids friends still talk about the tradition from 30 years ago. We often had extra kids over for Saturday dinner.

When we go back i'm going to try this: LAVA Red Reaper 5 oz. LAVA Red Reaper is a great tasting sauce made from Carolina Reaper (Rated Worlds Hottest in 2013 by Guinness Book), Red Habanero and Cayenne Peppers that was created with the Chilehead in mind. The flavor from the trio of Red Hot Peppers and Spices reels you in first and then the heat from the peppers hits you like the Grim Reapers Scythe, We Love It. $9.99

(54,990 posts)but alone is kind of meh. needs to have good flavor too. most Mexican food is really not hot at all. (at least to me )
adding - you know one of the worst burns I ever experienced was from a pickled green (anaheim) chile. anatomy lesson from that sucker during the night!

(11,784 posts)I took my students on a tour of the botanical gardens. Our guide told us to take a pepper off a plant and try it. A few bold students and I did so. One student had tears pouring out of his eyes. Another spat the pepper out immediately. Still others were stunned by the fire in their mouths. I tried to eat the skin, then calmly popped out the seeds and ate the rest. It still burned like holy hellfire, but I ate the whole thing.
I proceeded to have the Mexican Revolution occur in my stomach that night. But I impressed the hell out of my students and our guide.
