The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSomeone on Discussionist said I'm a "real piece of work."
A friend told me I should check myself out there, and I did. It was weird.
The posts I ran into were from last summer.
Some new poster wrote that he agreed with things Id been saying about Justina Pelletier, the girl with mitochondrial disease whose parents lost custody for 16 months because a Boston Childrens psychiatrist thought her symptoms were all in her head (they gave her back when they realized that the Tufts docs were right about her mito disease).
And members of my non-fan club responded.
Besides calling me a real piece of work, they accused me of being a Hof member (what is that?), a carefully disguised RW troll, a vicious Troll, works in the swarm, and a BOG member!
Im a "rightwinger" because I agreed with Fox news that Justina Pelletier had been improperly taken away from her parents custody, disregarding the testimony of her Tufts doctors, experts in metabolic illnesses.
And Im a rightwinger because . . . Duke lacrosse and Amanda Knox.
In my defense, I was correct about Justina Pelletier, the lacrosse students, and Amanda Knox.
And if anyone actually left DU because I made a few BOG posts, good riddance. ☺
From the comments (about what I had to say regarding Justina Pelletier), here was one of the highlights:
How is siding with right-wingers a good thing?
Nearly every story about this girl is written by conservatives trying to bash the government for protecting the girl. The DU poster you refer to is the same person who sided with Amanda Knox and the Duke Lacrosse that raped that girl Crystal Mangum. Forgive me for not jumping on board with someone who has repeatedly been shown to be on the wrong side of history.

(10,418 posts)I've seen no reason to go back and actually post there. It's just a free-for-all. As far as I'm concerned, there is nothing there of value to me.

(12,018 posts)Having been in a position to get reviewed by critics around the world, due to my profession, this is a lesson I learned a long time ago. Don't read critics' comments. Ignore 'em. Never engage 'em. Stay true to yourself and do what you know is right for you.
Once you put yourself out there, whether it's your creations or your opinions, you'll get dumped on. Just a fact of life.
