(3,626 posts)but my favorites are the ones from "the computer department" telling me my computer is in some sort of trouble. I play along for a few minutes, then can't contain my laughter, whereupon they hang up. Both the IRS and generic computer callers speak very heavily accented English, obviously Indian/Pakistani callers. (Not denigrating the callers - I can't speak a single word of their language - and they're just trying to do the job assigned to them.)

(14,400 posts)I coughed up immediately they were going to send out the police to pick me up.
I asked her if she meant right now, is she going to send the cops to get me right now? She said that as soon as she hung up she was going to call the cops.
I thanked her for the heads up and said it was great that I'd be able to pack an overnight bag.
I kept the moron on the phone for about another 3 or 4 minutes before it settled through her thick skull that I was toying with her, then she hung up and the cops never came.

(50,451 posts)...that you know exactly where they are, and unless they agree to pay you a fine of $100,000 within an hour, you'll be forced to send them to Joliet Prison for fifty years.
