They must have fried your chicken in oil that had been used for fish.
One time I got a bean burrito at Taco Bell. The refried beans had a distinct fishy taste. Yuk!

It does not mean I'd immediately run to the "Colonel's" chicken as a second choice.
I'd just run to the nearest Thai place, order Tom Kha Gai and Yam Wun Sent and hope for the best.
