When I buy a newspaper now, it's not to get the news, it's to get the paper.

Twice recently this has happened to me. Once, I needed the paper to put
under my car to check on an oil leak.

Now, I need to polish shoes, and I guess I'll have to buy a newspaper.

I get my news from the Internet, but looks like I still need the newspaper.

But I'll remember to pick up some of the free weekly/monthlies I see in racks at
the grocery store.

The "funny pages" are even worthless and haven't been funny in decades.

It's easier and I can leisurely go through to see what I need, print only the coupons I need. It's best for my grocery shopping since I can check what is on sale, see what I have in stock already, look up recipes for the in season produce, and make my list.

Then I take my list and any coupons to the store and I'm much less likely to make impulse purchases.

For other stuff it's easier to do comparison shopping online than by going through pages and pages of ads.

I don't even take a newspaper any more, but we get two or three free bundles of advertising flyers a week. I save them.

They are pretty much germ/bacteria free. Barely (if ever) touched by human hands.
You could look it up.

If I have a messy job, I spread two or three layers on the kitchen counter and when I'm finished just ball the papers up and toss them.
Sweet.

Got two everyday as recently as 10 years ago. I'm supporting the medium more than the particular paper at this point.
