Anyone interested in adopting a very sweet, young, male black (mostly) cat?

I seem to be a cat magnet. This young fella showed up at my place of work yesterday; he is skinny as heck, but extremely sweet. I've seen him on and off for a few weeks (and have been putting out food) but yesterday was the first day he started to talk to me and approached me, asking for a head-scratch. I will continue to feed him but at this moment I am literally without a place to live so I can't take him in and I can't foster him. I have places to stay - so I will be fine - but I have no capacity to care for him the way he needs to be cared for - I have to focus on getting a place of my own. (Our landlord sold the house we rented pretty much right out from under us and I have my own pets and was not able to find a place that will take them and me in the amount of time we had to vacate). I do have resources to get my own place - but just have not had enough time yet to do so.

He's going to be big, once he fills out. He was probably born this spring. He's mostly black, with white whiskers, white toes, and a white bib on his chest. A little skittish because I think he's had to survive on his own, but NOT feral. He wants a home. I'm checking in with the resources near me (north-western Virginia) but I've had pretty good luck with cat lovers here on DU before.

Please drop me a PM or reply to this message if you are interested or know someone who is. I do have photos that I can email - but at the moment I don't have photobucket or any other place to upload photos to put into this thread.

Thanks for any assistance.

I'm curious -- what became of your own pets? Is someone caring for them until you find a pet-friendly place?

Good luck on that, as well!

Sorry to hear about your housing situation. We went through a similar issue a year before, though it was because of the owner going into foreclosure. Didn't want to stick it out through that. Ironically it still hasn't gone back on the market.

My wife was really intrigued by your description of the kitty, but we cannot add another one to our brood! Panda, Idget, and Lucy. Panda's the oldest at about ten, Idget will be three in a month and Lucy will be two in a month. Lucy weighs as much as the other two. She resembles Roosevelt.

Idget and Lucy were both rescued from the outdoors by my wife and daughter and welcomed into our household.

(he looks sort of like the Chat Noir -famous French cat) - and how you adopted Sonia. Isn't Idget the one who looks like Sonia did?

He's so pitiful, he just wants to be petted. Pitiful. Talked to our local rescue and he needs to be fostered for a few weeks before they can get him to a no-kill adoption facility. I hope someone takes him before then, but he'll need to be FELV/FIV tested and I need to find someone who can do that! I just have no bandwidth at the moment (and a husband who has HAD IT with me and stray cats...). Sigh. Will figure it out somehow.

Aren't you guys more in the midwest now? How is everyone?

Gosh he's a sweetie pie, though. Chatty, and affectionate. Sort of just leans on you while you pet him and tell him he's a good boy. Skinny right now, though I have discovered he likes Fancy Feast Grilled Seafood canned food and gave him two cans tonight (one to start with an hour ago, and the second one just now). Gotta put some weight on him; you can feel each vertebrae. He likes dry crunchies, too.

I'm sorry we're not closer. Thank you so much for offering, though. As I said upthread, he looks like the Chat Noir famous French cat, only with white toes (not feet - just toes) and bib.

for these types of situations. Maybe that would work? A few to try are Animal Rescue Transport, Freedom Train Animal Rescue, Operation Roger. *fingers crossed*
