Wow. I just realize I haven't posted since July. August was a blur and September is on its way to being the same.
Both kids are in college now and it's been very strange around here. When I get home from work, nothing has changed. There are no piles of stuff, no extra shoes here and there, and no dishes on the counter. Cooking has been different, too, since I am feeding two people and not two people plus a horse. The horse is now on an unlimited food plan in college. They can figure out how to feed him now!
I took an unexpected trip to Switzerland and got to see parts of Germany and Austria. I only came back because I have family here. I think I would love living in Switzerland.
Every day there I witnessed a miracle. No matter where we walked, as soon as we approached a crosswalk, cars stopped. I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME. This was without flashing lights (or even signals.) And the buses, cars, trollies ALL stopped no matter what. Of course, we were a little freaked out and wouldn't actually start walking across until we saw them stop but the locals just walked into these crosswalks as if it was nothing. We were told this is because the fines are so high if you don't stop but we never saw anyone not stop even if we weren't quite up the the road yet. It was amazing! I hope visitors don't try that in Atlanta! The few blocks we walk to lunch at work requires serious attention to keep from getting struck even in a marked crosswalk with a signal.
I've been reading a lot to try and catch up. Hope you all are well!
