(47,209 posts)But I'm afraid it couldn't be better than 28 Days handled that theme.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)how they handle it. The opening of the original series reminded me a bit of the opening of 28 Days Later.

(46,697 posts)Oh, no. That's Doomsday.
28 days didn't scratch the surface of what can go wrong when martial law is enforced.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)should be good

(56,828 posts)I think?
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)day 9 now - 9 days without power and with a fence installed
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)like a war zone - on for a few hours a day only?

(46,697 posts)Stealing someone's morphine? Really?
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)there really isn't a Rick, Glenn or Daryl yet on the show - guys you kind of root for from the start.

And Mom is going to turn into a tiger since they took her son. I think those two are going to rip that zone to shreds if that's what it takes to see their family again.

(12,232 posts)Blades character has seen the worst in people and is recognizing signs.
And the mom's sending off the police in the earlier scene when her son was in the hospital by demanding to know if he was being held/ charged or not showed early on she will stand up to authority.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)she's going to go beyond the fence now, I bet.

(46,697 posts)them shoot healthy people.

(46,697 posts)Not a good idea to use needles to prick yourself. I see a self-inflicted zombie in the future.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)they certainly love their wind chimes on the show, too.
suffragette
(12,232 posts)To make it permanent?
They showed how it was fading earlier in this episode.
Maybe I misread that, though?

(56,828 posts)I think they could have done this episode in 30 minutes. Kind of a slow pace again

(90,762 posts)I'll have to re-watch both though. Bit of a family drama going on now.
I will say that I do not like the military keeping everyone inside. Probably because I know how quick that can go bad.
Solly Mack
(90,762 posts)Or the government doctor. Well, she might be OK. We'll see.
Great. Cut the fence - make a zombie hole.
No weapon? She has no weapon? Silly zombie food.
Can her mind not wrap around the fact that there can be 2 threats at once?
She doesn't trust the military but opens a hole in the fence that any old zombie can get through and then leaves without a weapon? Because she thinks all the dead are really dead now?
Sheesh.
OK. The doctor sucks as I originally thought.
To be fair, Nick didn't help himself stealing morphine.
Damn.
NEVER separate! Never!
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)so, maybe she is not sure about being armed with more than the wire cutters?
Solly Mack
(90,762 posts)They are building up to all hell breaking loose, with both the house members and the now hospital members having to escape and find each other.
I'm thinking Griselda dies from her injuries, with Nick, Daniel, and possibly Liza surviving.
Travis is early Hershel. Idiot.
Madison will try to get Nick out.
Alicia will be lucky if she doesn't die from septicemia. Idiot.
Travis's son, Chris, was learning how to use a gun. Smart.
The creators will shrink the primary group some for the big push out of the city. Though they might add a few before it is over.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)if Nick is going to make it now - I can see her finally coming to a decision to leave him behind because he's too much trouble.
Until this past episode, I thought he would make it.
Also, will Tobias turn up again, or will he be like Morales from The Walking Dead? Just disappearing off the face off the earth.
Solly Mack
(90,762 posts)I think Nick will make it for a little while longer.
Her beating him up does show how tired she is of it all. Her words, especially.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)Madison will remember he has a boatload of supplies stashed away.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)Alicia calling out Travis and Madison for their bickering, and Madison going crazy beating her son Nick. They're really not trying to make anybody very likable on the show - maybe Daniel Salazar?
Beaverhausen
(24,470 posts)I know they are trying to set up the story but there have been some really clumsy plot points that are making this almost unwatchable for me.
For instance, after at least 2 hours of looting the group leaves the barber shop to run to their truck which miraculously none of the looters have touched.
The ridiculous story last night of the son (Chris? I don't even care enough to learn names) who videotaped the blinking light and his father wouldn't even look at it and said he was crazy.
Editing to add: the ridiculously stereotypical marines who are overseeing the quarantine.
It's just little things like this that make me cringe. If it wasn't for Kim Dickens, I might stop watching.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)poor writing & pacing at times.
However, this is season 1 and they've had this going for a few years now, so there really shouldn't be this many problems.
Phentex
(16,334 posts)yeah yeah I gotta suspend reality...
But that same truck had already bulldozed a person to a bloody pulp. Yet, there it was, still in tact surrounded by violent people overturning everything in sight.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)I wasn't sure what happened at the end, but I had initially thought when Travis went up to the roof at the end of the episode and saw the light flashing, it was just the person his son saw signalling to them again. However, upon re watching, it is clearly gunfire, as once the music cuts out, you can hear the machine gun fire in time with the flashes.
MissB
(15,805 posts)Plus it was night time so the reflection of a mirror would be minimal. I think it was gunfire too.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)I initially thought it was just the flashing light again. However, I saw posts online (here? and elsewhere) that it was gunfire. So, I went back and watched again - and, it is clearly gunfire.

(25,704 posts)Someone really does not like golf at TWD HQ. Remember the country club scene?
On edit: the sybolism was very heavy handed, people despirate to get inside (for the booze) and then you get inside and everyone is trying to eat you alive.
I will be pleased when every last member of the suburban family get horribly killed. Let's stick with the Salvadorans.
