It's not gonna be a real cold winter this year...at least here in CT...

I saw a nice, lean squirrel on my lawn yesterday. No heavy fur on the little guy. If you believe the folks who say the squirrels "know" it'll be cold and grow thick coats in the fall then you'll feel pretty good about the upcoming winter weather.

OK, I prefer to believe it. Why not?

some predictions have it as a very tough winter, others not so bad. Whoever is right will be called a genius by the local meteorologists for the next year.

5. I go by median temperature.

So say the average temperature per year is 47 degrees in Vermont. If Vermont has a hot summer than it has to have a cold winter to average out to 47 degrees.

If it has a mild summer than it must have a mild winter to average out to 47 degrees.

I think this was a mild summer so I think we will have a mild winter.

I'm no scientist but that is my reasoning.

I just bought a snowblower so I can count on not getting to use it.

Either it's really cold (teens or lower) or else it's warm enough for every front to pick up moisture over the Lake and dump
a load (2ft or better) of snow on us.
