so this is the one bright spot in a pretty bad drought up here!

5. i miss most because

of light pollution. When I'd visit an old friend in Florida, who didn't even live in a rural area, at night I'd look up and see millions of stars and feel cheated. Around here I see one or two here or there....phooey.

6. moving to Maine re-introduced me to the night sky

I occasionally get some light pollution from one neighbor or another shining kleig lights. But most of the time, if the night is clear the sky is magnificent.

Almost as good as it was from the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

9. UPDATE - clouds have cleared in NYC and I can see it but

tonight the moon's up at such an angle that I'd have to stick half my body out the window for a better view and, I'm on a high floor. It'd be an ironic development if I fell out while trying to watch what some people think means THE END.

instead I'm bundled up and fffreezing. But it's beauooootiful, so worth it!

17. Ayup... I lasted to about 10 minutes past totality, and then had to give up

due to freezing plus exhaustion. I'd spent most of the day wandering the grounds of Common Ground Fair, lost much of the time. I didn't have so much trouble navigating last year, but maybe because I had a shorter list of "must see" events!
