A film about Russian tank crewmen in Afghanistan. It came out in 1988. I went to tanker school in 1989 and managed to convince my drill sergeant to screen the film for the other trainees. It showed a genuine Russian-built T-55 tank up close and personal, which was good for tank recognition training. (This was in the days before YouTube, when you could access thousands of videos about tank of every conceivable model.)

I try to stop at some point in the evening (if for no other reason than to sound sober when my wife makes her bedtime phone call...)
and just drink water, to head off the hangover when I'm supposed to be in class the next morning.

I remember thinking 'Didn't the Russians learn from our example in Vietnam?' Then it was no doubt the Russians who were thinking 'Didn't the Amrikanskis learn from our example in Afghanistan, the same damn country?'
