I found a website that features the new Doctor (Peter Capaldi) episodes and enjoying the hell out of them so far!

(1,999 posts)I watched it a few times on PBS when I was a kid but really jumped on board with the reboot in 2005. I found a lot of the Classic Who episodes at the library.

(38,302 posts)Back when the episodes were new. In the U.K..
Sadly, my parents television broke and they didn't get another for a few years. (Feeding everyone in our big crowded house was a higher priority.) Even once they'd replaced the television, after they'd bought a small farm back in the U.S.A., the television only got three channels reliably, none of them showing Doctor Who.
I didn't get caught up on episodes I'd missed until I was out on my own, in college.
My wife's not fond of Doctor Who, but she's got very strong credentials as both a Star Trek and Star Wars fan. (Yes, we did see the first showing of The Force Awakens.)
I really don't understand people who don't like any kind of Science Fiction/Fantasy.

(6,143 posts)Capaldi was awesome this season, much improved from last season IMO. They had lots of 2-parters, which i think plays to the show's strengths. The original series were 1- week long 4 or 5 part serials, 20-minutes per part. Nice to have more minutes to play out the story.
David Tennant (#10) is still my favorite though.

(4,851 posts)since her and Tenant probably saved the show from a quick death in 2006. But I do like Coleman's portrayer of Clara. She is a wonderful actor and the character was developed well. I still have not embraced Peter Capaldi as The Doctor. He is a gifted actor, but I just have never felt a connection with him. Of course following Matt and David is a difficult task for any actor.

(4,851 posts)My daughter and son are little Whovians now, both asking for sonic screwdrivers as toys when we first let them watch, and they love it too.
I always watch a season behind as I cut the cord and live on netflix and prime.

(52,791 posts)I've seen an episode here and there over the years... And I always enjoyed it, even if I didn't know the backstory of things.. Now that I have a little more time on my hands (and HULU).. I am bound and determined to catch up before I croak.

I agree with the above post that this has been the strongest season yet. I didn't think I was gonna like Capaldi but he's won me just like they all do eventually.
it goes like this:
THIS GUY IS AWESOME!!

WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY??
THIS GUY IS AWESOME!!

(504 posts)Although I have vague childhood memories of Peter Davison and Sylvester McCoy rattling around the TARDIS, I'd never really got into it. That changed a couple of years ago when I decided to begin watching them all in order (where possible).
After watching them all, and actually liking ALL the doctors, I found my favorite to be the chap in my avatar - the Mighty Trout - the tremendous Second Doctor. The first to use a sonic screwdriver and to offer a jelly baby!

(29,414 posts)but wouldn't call myself the kind of fan that laps up all the specials like "The Science of Doctor Who" or "The Doctor's Notes" and so forth. Just give me the regular shows, and the Christmas episodes, and I'm happy
Oh, and I loved Matt Smith the best for Doctors, and hope he goes into comedy movies/shows. His delivery for that kind of performance is perfect
