(46,698 posts)I walk into those with caution. Too formulaic for me.

(56,828 posts)it's related to Daredevil and Jessica Jones in that they all take place in the same section of NYC - Hell's Kitchen. When the DD comic started back in the 60s, Hell's Kitchen was kind of a seedy and not very nice area. That's how they're playing it on the show, even though it's taking place in current times.
In current times IRL, Hell's Kitchen is now a gentrified area of the city and pretty wealthy.
It's a lot more down to earth than the superhero movies (Iron Man, Thor, Avengers, etc) in that they're battling to save local people from crime lords, and not engaging in epic battles to save the world.

(100,059 posts)And I really liked Jessica Jones as well. Marvel's doing some good stuff with Netflix, and I can't wait to see what they're doing with Luke Cage.

(63,198 posts)He gives a very thoughtful and restrained performance. I can't stand Agents of Shield, but Daredevil and Jessica Jones did a great job of presenting human beings with super powers rather than super-powered caricatures masquerading as human beings.
Can't wait to see this!
Daredevil and JJ are definitely a lot more down to earth than The Avengers, Iron Man, Thor, etc.
