That damn bird, or is it just me?

I don't know, when I saw the reaction of the crowd ... I mean, seriously? Look at this video. Maybe my way of thinking is what comes from living with a cynic for more than 3 decades. But, if not, good god, this must be what comes from watching too many cute kitten videos.

It's ok. We don't all have to have the same reaction. I assume you're not into animals. I thought it was nice - and, yes, CUTE. The crowd was already pumped and it was certainly unusual to have any kind of animal show up on the stage. Later it flew up onto the podium.

I acknowledge most of them being beautiful and gobsmack amazing in many ways - the flying, the nesting, the single-minded purposefulness of their behaviors.

But years ago, it became irksome about their pooping in my then outside dogs' water dishes. It would have been fine for them to just drink out of them, but they took it to the level of bathing, dropping feathers, pooping, and soaking their snacks in the dogs' water. Just about everything they come in contact with gets subverted: Those graceful bird baths -- breeding for mosquitos (plus the poop). Cars parked under trees or utility wires --- pooped on, especially if the car has just been washed. My chain-link gate, pooped on where I have to handle the handle. Certain mockingbirds? --- non-stop chirrupping a whole (amazing) repetoire at 3 A.M. forever.

I've seen some malicious behavior, like a bluejay sabotaging a squirrel off a branch to fall in front of human passerbys on a walkway. Right now, the ravens or whatever are having their big year at my place, these gigantic males impressing the ladies, with my place being the bachelor pad.

Because you have a conspiracy theory that a damn bird landing on a lecturn suddenly means wild birds are conspiring with Bernie Sanders.
