I turned down a job offer and I feel great

So I've been looking for a job since my boss died and the company closed its doors, about 6 weeks.

I interviewed with a company that's in the oil and gas industry. That guarantees there will be ups and downs.

It would have been a 45-60 commute. Sure, I could move closer in a year when my lease is up, but I really like my apartment and the area I'm living in. I don't really want to move.

But here's the most important reason. They treat their workers and vendors crappy. It's not that they laid people off. I understand that. But they also cut the remaining workers' pay simply because "there was plenty of available labor". They pay their vendors late too even though they have plenty of cash in the bank. They told me other bookkeepers quit over these issues. Well, this bookkeeper isn't even going to start.

And I got a call for a contract job this morning!

You need to work for a company that values its workers and vendors.

Hold out for the best!

Not taking the job was money out of his pocket, but when I told him why he totally understood.
