https://www.yahoo.com/gma/flight-attendant-tells-passenger-shut-argument-over-pasta-211504366--abc-news-topstories.htmlThe spaghetti spat erupted on an American Airlines flight from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, to Miami on June 5, when the crew ran out of pasta for business class customers, according to passenger Ra Nath....
I just wanted to know why my row got asked last. I mean, I was in the second rows of business class, and the rows behind me and in front of me were asked, the passenger wrote in a blog post. That is no order that makes sense in my mind.
Nath tells ABC News that the flight attendant attempted to explain to him that the meals depend on the direction of the plane and to do your research.
That's what, a two-hour flight?

(23,620 posts)But in any event, I am so tired of people treating other people like servants. Not knowing the full extent of the situation, it does seem like the passenger was a bit over bearing. To complain because he didn't get his pasta? Hope he doesn't have any worse crisis in his life. And you're right! What are they even serving a meal on a 2 hour flight?

I will say I've noticed a marked "attitude" after 9/11 that every little dispute is going to get turned in to a law enforcement/security issue. It's become a weapon for snotty flight attendants.
This video is what I'm talking about. It's obvious the guy was being a pest. But he wasn't belligerent or out of control or being any kind of threat. The FA can give his name without the rude behavior and threats of arrest.
Here is the video:

(26,602 posts)Granted that this is clearly a problem trivial even among the 1st World variety, the dude should have just requested a different meal, row-order doesn't indicate any service precedence, and flight attendants often do skip around for convenience: that said, what does the 'direction of the plane' have to do with it?
"I'm sorry sir, but the pilot has turned the aircraft in a westward direction. We can only serve the chicken on this heading."
(And I'm guessing he just misheard, and the FA was really saying that they serve rows out of sequence to fit the cart in the aisle or something...)

(22,298 posts)the order of service for meals/drinks/snacks depends on which direction the plane is headed. For example, if the flight is flying to Punta Cana, service will start in row 1. If flying to Miami, service will start in the last row.
Makes no sense to me at all, but I don't work for the airlines. I'm sure there's a logical explanation.

(5,490 posts)This seems to be the current trend now - act like the biggest douche in the world, turn your camera on afterwards, and pretend to be an innocent victim who is being mistreated.
I bet this guy was throwing a petulant fit before the video started. I know the type. He had his tantrum, and then turned the video on right after it ended to make it look like he did nothing.
I hate people who expect flight attendants, waiters, etc. to be their slaves. They have a perceived sense of superiority over them, like they're the underclass born to serve them.
So you were picked last and didn't get any pasta. Tough shit. What a baby.
