(56,827 posts)should be fun. I have no knowledge of spoilers
1) Tommen
2) Margaery
3) The High Sparrow
4) Melisandre
5) Walder Frey
I think Cersei is going to burn down the Sept of Baelor thinking to catch the High Sparrow and/or Margaery there, but Tommen will also get it in the fire.
Jon will execute Melisandre after Davos tells him what happened to Shireen.
Frey will be killed by either another Frey, or maybe Arya's surprise return to Westeros and The Twins

High Sparrow--yes please, along with all his other religious fanatics.
Not so sure about Melisandre, but a wiping out of the Freys would be most welcome in this House.

Her refusal to sleep with Tommen = she suspects he will die soon, probably in the upcoming battle between Cersei & the Faith & doesn't want any Baratheon heirs lying around. She's hoping the Lannisters wipe themselves out, leaving House Tyrell with the strongest army & thus claim to the Iron Throne. Since she's already in King's Landing, well....

(4,138 posts)line exterminated, Dany probably has the closest thing to a legal claim to the throne. Cersei as Queen and Queen mother has no legitimate claim by Westerosi succession laws, so it's a straight-up usurpation. She clearly holds what remains of the levers of power in the capitol, but how she expects to hold it from a Dorne/Tyrell/Greyjoy/Daenerys alliance is, well, lets just say that thinking past the immediate crisis isn't one of Cersei's strong points.
Solly Mack
(90,740 posts)She has been aiming for that role for a long time now. It was expected that she claim the throne at season's end - in some manner.

I think with Arya's return, the death of the Freys at her hand, and Sansa in Winterfell, that with Jon as King in the North, there still needs to be a Lord or Lady of Winterfell, of STARK blood. Sansa, as the eldest girl, fills that role. Arya, also being a Tully through her mother, would be logical to take over the reins at Riverrun. Her wolf is still at large in that area, as well.
Also, because of the Ice Queen from 1000 years before, I don't think the North would have ACCEPTED a Queen regnant, but a Lady of a major house is fine.
WolverineDG
(22,298 posts)The Lannisters are essentially standing alone now. The Freys, their only ally left, are less than useless.

Solly Mack

(90,740 posts)And he hates Stark men. All of them. He wouldn't like Arya either, for that matter. But since he is a weasel and good at it, he can cause trouble.
Littlefinger has hated the Starks since Brandon Stark was engaged to Catelyn back in the day (before Eddard married her). Brandon bested Littlefinger in a duel, an obvious outcome to all but Littlefinger.
Littlefinger tends to hate all nobility because he comes from such a minor house no one thought him good enough for their own Houses. You probably know all that though. Sorry.

DemonGoddess
(4,640 posts)with Varys on the ship, we don't know where exactly in the sea they are, as they only show a zillion ships on open water. So for all we know, the Dornish fleet didn't sail very far to meet up with the fleet that came from the Iron Isles with Theon and his sister.
NewJeffCT
(56,827 posts)for Olenna Tyrell to go from King's Landing to Highgarden, get news of her family getting blown up, and then traveling to Dorne had to be at least a few months.
The same with Yara and Theon leaving the Iron Islands, sailing to Meereen, meeting up with Dany, and then sailing back to meet up with the Dornish.
Not to mention Arya leaving Braavos, sailing to where King's Landing and then traveling to The Twins? Or, to the Eyrie and then traveling to the Twins, or sailing even further and getting close to The Twins as possible?

Kablooie
(18,571 posts)If they eloped and were married than John Snow isn't a bastard after all.
This makes John Snow the fully entitled heir to the throne and works better for the story so you're probably right.
Dany is the result of an incestuous marriage between her father and her aunt so though she's an heir I don't know if she would be considered the primary over John Snow.
NewJeffCT
(56,827 posts)But, I think any legitimate children that Rhaegar, the oldest son of Aerys, has would have a greater claim to the throne than the younger children of Aerys.
Kablooie
(18,571 posts)Since John inherited the Targaryen genes he will certainly have dragon skills as well.
NewJeffCT
(56,827 posts)if Jon was fathered out of wedlock, then he's a Targaryen bastard instead of a Stark bastard. However, if Rhaegar and Lyanna eloped and got married, it would make Jon a legitimate heir. (I think the Targs would sometimes allow a Targ to marry more than one person at once...)
Kablooie
(18,571 posts)And since this isn't real life but a well told story I would be surprised if they allowed him to remain an illegitimate bastard after setting everything up so perfectly for a showdown between Dany and Jon.

(22,114 posts)Well Dark is also strong in the Stark line. Robb and Jon and Bran have black hair; so did Lyanna. In genetics, dark will overpower blonde or red; Blondes can hide the red hair gene but not the reverse
Assuming Lyanna sent a dark gene it is going to dominate the hair color. If she carried a recessive blonde gene and it surfaced in that baby, Jon would be blonde. A clue perhaps to Catlyn that Jon was quite possible not Ned's actual son.
Same thing with brown eyes over blue. Two brown eyed dark haired parents can have children with blonde or red hair and blue or green eyes. Blue eyed people can only have kids with blue eyes.
BainsBane
(53,001 posts)but I recall something in the first season about the Targaryean's always being blonde. I didn't expect GoT to adhere to genetic science.

(18,571 posts)so I would think it was a birth complication.
Solly Mack
(90,740 posts)They would not have fought even Ned to the death for anything less than a legal heir. I'm sure they had already received word that the other Targaryen heirs had been murdered. A raven would have reached them before Ned did, and they were not without other loyalists to inform them) They had no reason to think Jon was in any less danger...even from Lyanna's brother. He did fight against the Targaryens after all. Not for the throne, but for his father, brother, and sister. As far as everyone knew, Lyanna was kidnapped. But Lyanna once told Ned she did not want to marry Robert because he would never remain true and she could never be happy with him.
Ser Arthur Dayne, The Sword of the Morning, was honorable. He was who Ned fought - the man with the 2 swords. It is a safe bet that Lyanna went willingly with Rhaegar and that the two were married. Jon is the surviving legal and legitimate heir of Rhaegar Targaryen. Maybe not the only one - depending on if Aegon is the once thought murdered Aegon Targaryen and not Aegon Dayne Stark. (from the books and not the show)...but since he hasn't made an appearance on the show, I think we can conclude he isn't a Targaryen and/or his birth, either way, doesn't make a difference on how the end plays out.
Lyanna Stark (Targaryen) died from complications due to giving birth to Jon.
The King's Guard did not stab her. They would not have done so.
Now, we don't know for a fact (yet) that they were married but I think it a safe bet. Considering who stayed behind to protect her and Jon (Dayne, Hightower, and Whent)
Targaryens had no problem with having multiple wives. They did it all the time. They also married their sisters and brothers.
Even if Rhaegar had bade them to stay, they are the King's Guard and loyalists - their place was with the King (which Rhaegar was at the time of his father's death) - only a true heir would have kept them in place.
But, we'll see.
WolverineDG
(22,298 posts)but were all of Rhaegar's other children dead by the time Jon was born? Because that would add an extra impetus for having Kingsguard protecting the Tower of Joy.
Solly Mack
(90,740 posts)Ned broke with Robert over the murder of the Targaryen children. He rode South to finish the war - and to find his sister. Lyanna died from complications due to child birth. So, Jon was born after Ned left King's landing, making his birth after the murders of his siblings.
They knew their King was dead, so the chances are very good the loyalists also knew the other heirs were dead.

NewJeffCT
(56,827 posts)but, season 6 was almost too much of a "feel good" season - major bad guys like Roose Bolton, Ramsay, Walder Frey, the Dothraki Khals and Wise Masters, and The Waif all perished. Jon Snow and The Hound came back. The North is once again united, Dany united Meereen with the Unsullied, Dothraki and Ironborn, and possibly the Tyrells and Martells via Varys.

(16,191 posts)Ned Stark was a man of honor, and by his honor codes you go to war when someone kills your family (he went to war when the Targaryens after they killed his father and brother). If Robert Baratheon had known about Jon, he would have demanded that the baby be killed...and even if Robert had wavered due to his friendship, Cirsei and the Lannisters wouldn't have allowed him to be weak when their claim to the throne was being put at risk. Because Ned would have never handed a noble born blood-Stark over to the Iron Throne for execution, the inevitable result would have been a war between the Iron Throne and the North. To make things worse, many houses supported the Targaryens right up until Kings Landing fell and it looked like the family had been exterminated. The existence of a new heir might have caused those houses to rise again against Robert in aid to the north, throwing the entire kingdom into yet another war.
While Ned certainly wasn't pleased with the murder of the Targaryen children, his decision to flee north and hide Jon's identity was an attempt to save the kingdom as much as it was to save his nephews life. I don't think it had much to do with the bloody end that the other Targaryen children were subjected to.
