Those were the years that acrylic and polyesther and dacron, etc came out, all oil based synthetic fabrics which could take bright colors.
rayon..musn't forget rayon.

still, plenty of cotton available, esp. in jeans.

Now, clothes, linens, material from the 70's and 80's is available from online shops like Etsy.
the items are called "vintage"
I have bought all cotton sheets, towels, pillow cases, still in their old wrappings, for pennies on the original dollar, at such "vintage" sites.
