Oral Sex Etymology

For your amusement and edification, here are the etymologies of two clinical terms whose meanings are already familiar to you:

"fellatio"
ORIGIN late 19th cent.: modern Latin, from Latin fellare ‘to suck.’

"cunnilingus"
ORIGIN late 19th cent.: from Latin, from cunnus ‘vulva’ + lingere ‘lick.’

There is a vulgar word (which I won't repeat) that you might think was also derived from "cunnus", but the facts are otherwise:
ORIGIN Middle English : of Germanic origin; related to Norwegian and Swedish dialect "kunta", and Middle Low German, Middle Dutch, and Danish dialect "kunte".

Each inscription begins with a reference to where it was found (region.insula.door number).  The second number is the reference to the publication of the inscription in the Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum, Volume 4.

I once went to a talk by a woman who did her thesis on those graffiti. She said that it was best to translate the obscene Latin into obscene English.

Her talk was well received!

"Mommy, what are those people doing in the boat?"

"Shh .. I'll tell you later, sweetie."

But seriously, it's not entirely clear what they are doing. The lighter skinned figure in the middle is presumably a woman. Is she smiling for the camera? She's too far from the guy on the left to be sucking his cock, although maybe she's getting ready to do so. The guy on the right seems to be penetrating her, but which orifice? It could be either anal or vaginal sex.

And why the fuck are they doing this in a boat? There must have been a more comfortable and private place for sex.

Also, the digital audio tour comes in two versions-- adult and family.

If you give the child the little digital headset gizmo, it will only read the "family" exhibits and descriptions.

That mural was marked only for the "adult" audio tour.

was rare according to William Whitaker's Words
http://archives.nd.edu/words.html

Since the noun is third declension, it could easily be either masculine or feminine. Whitaker says masculine, but my guess is that it would be the same gender as that of the person performing the act.

Update: I was wrong...

According to both William Whitaker's Words and the Oxford Latin Dictionary,
a female cock sucker is fellatrix, fellatricis.

Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Maya Rudolph, Chris Parnell, and guest host Christopher Walken as the title character. This skit from Saturday Night Live seems very appropriate for this thread.

.
.
.
From the Greek "etyseus" -- to engage in oral foreplay with one's S.O.
.
.
.
And from the Latin "eewwology" -- to apologize that it only lasted for 7 seconds before you made a face and quit
.
.
.
And they told me that majoring in Classic Languages would never amount to anything useful.

Non fellavi, sed fellatus sum ('I haven't sucked, but I've been sucked').

That makes me a pervert, according to the English translation of the verb 'fello, fellare' in the (slightly bowdlerized) Oxford Latin Dictionary.

Well, maybe half a pervert.

If the Latin and Germanic words for the same body part are "cunnus" and "kunte", then you're sure to be looking at the same source word further back in linguistic development.

He keeps getting more and more popular among conservatives. They worship him as a god at think tanks like Stanford's Hoover Institution. More and more buildings across the nation are named after Raygun.

Here's a picture of the new Ronald Raygun Sewage Treatment Facility at some piddling town or other.

Note the elegant architecture reflected by the sludge pool.
