Fear the Walking Dead 2.14/2.15 "Wrath" and "North" Season Finale (spoiler alert)

Travis is blindsided by new refugees at the hotel. Meanwhile, Nick must make the decision to leave the Colonia or stay with Luciana.

In the second-season finale, Travis' rage causes unrest at the RBH; and Madison must decide if she will stand by Travis. Meanwhile, Nick takes on leadership of the Colonia as Narcos close in.

Looks like two one-hour episodes tonight to close out the season. Glad they're giving us a few weeks until the parent show returns.

so pretty big moments - Chris and Travis separating, and Madison telling Alicia about her father's suicide.

I like the way this show is able to work with large populations of semi-normal people who still believe they can survive the apocalypse as a large community. Compare that with WD where the groups that our regulars encountered were either small, or already established with rules that were hostile to outsiders. (Except for Alexandria that was still living in Never Never Land because of the quarry.) I know the timeline where the two shows begin with has a lot to do with that.

The side plots that may prove fruitful in the future include: Ofelia Salazar's walkabout in the desert and the possibility that she might encounter people who are away from the urban madness, enough to hold on to their humanity. I think they are building her up as well as Alicia to be tough female survivors.

Madison and Victor - I absolutely love the way they deconstructed Travis's character. From a father who was trying to set the best example to his son, to an avenging father that broke Madison's rules and got them booted out of the safest place that they have seen.

There is a happy medium somewhere, or is there in the post apocalypse?

it seems like society has broken down to a lot of small groups that are prepared to get violent to defend themselves.

I'm not sure it would really happen that way and that quickly. I do think there would be larger groups that try to band together, and I doubt some rural towns would be overrun that quickly due to them being more rural/isolated. Large herds in the thousands should be fairly easy targets for helicopters and air power. (We had the national guard in season 1, but why no US Army or Marines? Would Pearl Harbor really be overrun with no ships getting out to sea? What about places like Fort Hood or Benning?)

They went straight into martial law. They were instructed to bring in the sick, which created conflicts with family members who had no idea what was happening. The sick were quarantined in areas where they eventually became holding cells for the infected. Breakdowns continued to escalate as the medical community began to realize that everyone was infected.

In sum, the first responders were in a combat zone since they were the first to confront the sick and they had no protocol in place to deal with a virus that could change their buddies with just a bite. The military simply broke down first.

I get that things are still evolving but one survival constant has already been established - strength in numbers.

Sooner or later there will have to be a coming together of those who remain even if more die, like Chris, while off on their own.

Unless different characters form different groups that will have contact and conflict with each other - making it more of a conflict because the original group is now divided into several groups with perhaps competing interests but past loyalty. (of sorts)

Everyone except Strand is headed North or already there.

Victor would rather stay with people who have already stabbed him and are now angry at what Travis (and Alicia) has done?

Seriously?

Oh, well. We'll see.

Now on to TWD. Soon.

Wouldn't all those zombies stink? Why doesn't their skin burn off in the heat? Wouldn't their skin be rotting off by now? Couldn't they line up a bunch of fishing nets for them to entangle themselves in? Couldn't they be lured into a pit? Can they walk if you chop off their toes?
