The cataracts were just barely affecting my vision, but the new lenses have me close to 20/20. Before, I was worse than 20/400 without glasses.

Glad you are doing well. It is a miracle of sorts.

didn't get his first glasses until he was 8. He wears super thick, Coke bottle lenses. When he got his glasses, he could see clouds for the first time. Can you imagine?

I was surprised that they aren't as expensive as I expected them to be, considering they are new technology. They start at about $350. If Mylan, manufacturers of Epipen, made them they'd probably charge $3500.

So many shapes and colors now. When I got my first glasses at age 9, 50 years ago, I got to choose from 3 frames. THREE!

16. Quick little story about wearing glasses as a kid

we lived in a university town with a teaching and experimenting hospital. I was @ 9 months when I started wearing glasses. I had lazy eye.

From then until I was @ 10 I was at the clinic @ once a month. The clinic was colored a pukey green and there was nothing to do. I hated it every time I had to go in that room.

Fast forward @ 45 years and our daughter is a biology major and works in a lab at the hospital. She always wanted me to visit her in the lab. So one day I had some time. I drove to the lab that was in an old part of the hospital. Memories started to return. I walked into her lab and I couldn't believe it. Yep, the old examination room.

I told her we needed to go outside. When we got out there I told her why I was acting so strange. Not pleasant memories.

Every time I got checked, my right eye was poked and prodded and filled with drops etc. It was like torture to me. At the end my left eye would be covered so my right eye would work harder. The another month with one eye covered........
