(1,814 posts)I have determined that he doesn't dislike the car, he just doesn't want to be in his carrier (long trips) or his lighter bag (vet's, etc). One night last month, I was driving home from a friend's house with him and he was fussy in his bag on the passenger seat. I zipped it open, thinking I'd offer a comforting hand, and all of a sudden, he's in my lap!
Meanwhile, I'm driving down a ramp to enter the Capitol Beltway! Fortunately it was the EZ Pass lanes later at night, so it wasn't too busy. The next thing I know, his paws are on the steering wheel just like "Toonces, the Driving Cat", then he's looking out the side window, standing on my lap, then he's walking across the dashboard (at 70 mph), and loving it. I was scared of him getting near my feet, but he went to the rear shelf, like the OP's post.
Today, we drove back to N. VA from Wilmington, NC, a five hour trip, and he was a real trouper in his carrier, slept most of the way. He farted a couple times, but hey!
