Question about cashing olds checks

So I moved in June and I just recently found a check for the return of my security deposit that I never cashed. It has "Void after 90 days" printed on it. I've been googling whether that is legally binding under the Uniform Commercial Code or not without much success. Can anybody shed any light on what might happen if I try to deposit it at my bank? In my move out instructions the company says they will charge $35 if they have to reissue the check (though it doesn't state that in my lease), so I'd prefer not to have to request a new check if at all posible.

I would just take it to my bank and ask them. They'll know. Lochloosa Oct 2016 #1
