(15,396 posts)What did the projectile hit before sinking into the edge of the phone.
Pretty interesting to say the least.

(230 posts)Look at the bullet. There is no engraving from the barrel rifling on the bullet. Do a google image search for fired bullet. You'll see what I'm talking about, if you are not already familiar.

(3,813 posts)Wouldn't the red sealant burn off of a fired bullet?
Plus, it looks like a rifle round to me: something that pass through a phone and keep traveling for quite a while.

(29,322 posts)Could it be ricochet?
Flyboy_451
(230 posts)Bullets are typically .001 inches larger in diameter than the groove diameter of a rifled barrel. The bullet gets quite a squeeze as it passes down the bore. The lands of the rifling (the raised portion) leave very visible imprints on a fired bullet.

(3,813 posts)1) Pull bullet from cartridge with pliers.
2) Set phone on wooden bench, grab hammer, hammer bullet into phone.
If it was a ricochet, the bullet would be even more misshapen. Once bullets hit things, they deform.
I don't know anything about this picture, so my post is just conjecture. But I'll bet dollars to donuts that my conjecture is likelier than a bullet being fired through a rifle barrel, striking that phone, and resembling that picture.
