*Steaming* - possible aircon problem on a new car on Day 53

This is a highly regarded brand, my 2nd of the brand. Starts with an "h". I trusted it so much I didn't even do a test drive. This is the last year of the ten years' model, will be re-done for next year, but the old car was starting the extensive repairs stage so couldn't wait, besides that the final year of a model ought to mean that all the kinks have been worked out, no?

So yesterday, with the aircon on there was fan blowing but not cool. It wasn't blowing hot, just tepid. This was at 74 degrees setting, which until now had gotten very cold. The manual said zilch about troubleshooting climate control.

Setting at 68 *did* yield a bit of noticeable cooling.

Trust the internet, which brought up beaucoup of complaints about this, from the '90s through 2014 models of this supposedly esteemed brand, plus that the company has been totally non-responsive. The dealers have claimed throughout that the condenser is unprotected and susceptible to road rocks, and that the replacement is a $700 job, meaning that the vulnerability causes multiple $700 occurrences.

My horrible Red State, of course, has an *impossible* Lemon law, totally favoring the Big Company, with a torturous nearly impossible series of hoops for the consumer to jump through. This is really pissible.

Should I just trade the danged thing in?!1

2. It is, but the hundreds of complaints on the net say the aircon is not covered by warranty

and that the company is non-responsive from the '90s through 2014 complaint dates, and that the dealers are greedy to do repeated condenser replacements for "rock damage" at $700 a pop.

However, a pal who does cars just messaged saying, first also that warranty is the word, but also that it could be objects put on the dash that are blocking sensors and slotted vents. I *do* have the panda bear stuffed between the dash and the windshield!1 Am about to remove it to find out!

************* ON EDIT, here's the 4" stuffed panda (on the right) :

I'm low info in MANY areas.

I don't want to i.d. the make tho u have clues.

******** ON EDIT:

Both yesterday and first thing this morning I checked out the air & it was cool/cold at 74 degrees. This would be with the stuffed toy OFF of the dashboard. The dealer dude *laughed* at the idea of a sensor on the dash being blocked, so much for my car expert/pal. I even asked the dude to explain what was funny about a sensor on the dash. He said there *are* sensors on the windshield but not associated with the aircon. Called the dealer to ask about the warranty & the aircon is covered 36K miles or three years. There's that. I'm still going to honor the pal by not having the stuffed panda on the dash, since things seemed to be fixed when I removed it!1 -------*HEY!1* those of us who don't know stuff go by superstition!1
