Old school DUer, back after many years.

Greetings all,

I don't know if I'm remembered after all these years. I suppose it really doesn't matter. I was a pretty frequent poster during the Bush years. Obviously when Obama came to power, and as I came to focus on other things in my life, like my family, my education, my career and my music, I guess I didn't need to focus on politics as much. And certainly, as social media grew, such a forum seemed, at the time at least, a little outdated. No offense to the wonderful people here or the admins running the show.

November 8th... my world turned upside down. This is not just politics as usual. While I'm a liberal, and perhaps even a bit more moderate or centrist these days as I've gotten older, I could have accepted any of the other Republican candidates winning. Even Cruz. Yuck! But I cannot accept Trump. He is the antithesis of everything I stand for and more importantly, the fact that my country is a quarter full of people willing to elect a man like this to the presidency shocks, angers and disheartens me.

I never thought I'd say this... but I'd rather have Bush in the White House again!

So DU... I'm here. Facebook and other social media channels have proven toxic to me, so much so that I've been forced to put my accounts on hiatus for the time being. I don't know what to do, but I know that I cannot sit idly by and watch this man unravel and destroy so much of the progress, on so many fronts, the progressive movement has accomplished recently.

I'm literally at wits end... and I figured there's bound to be a few others on here who are resonating on the same wavelength.

Cheers and thanks for listening...

I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of the old-timers as we get closer to inauguration day.

I've been here 15 years, and I don't plan on ever leaving...

I've had times when I stayed away from posting much on DU. But needing the DU community always brought me back. This place has been very important and DUers have been instrumental in many of my life's choices regarding major things like preparing for the eventual economic crash of the housing bubble, declaring bankruptcy, navigating foreclosure and getting a mortgage modification so I could keep my home, and many, many less drastic things.

The knowledge and expertise of DUers is immense. I owe this place a lot. I wouldn't have been able to manage without them
