Anyone else love Cachi (persimmons)?

Such a great Italian-American tradition. They only make an appearance around Christmas time. That and castagne (chestnuts) remind me of my heritage and make me feel so nostalgic this time of year.

They one's in the grocery stores are Japanese persimmons.

Kind of hard to figure out when they're ripe -- apparently, it has nothing to do with the first frost, despite what many believe.
