The vet is keeping her over night. They are trying to figure out what is wrong. This is my first kitten. She is the sweetest kitten on earth.

(10,952 posts)One of my cats had all of her shots together and got really sick one time. I had to take her to the vets three days in a row to have them give her medicine before she was ok enough that I could medicate her at home. After that, I had the vet split up her shots and we hever had that problem again. Depending upon how many shots she was given that the shots might have been too much for her.

(3,275 posts)I went to the Vet three or four times with the two kittens when I first got them. The vet made sure to space out there shots. The Vet visits were about two weeks apart. I got her spayed and her brother neutered a week and a half ago when they turned five months. She seems to be in good shape again. She is currently "fighting" with her brother over a new cat toy.

(12,153 posts)You didn't say what her symptoms are, but years ago I had a kitty who became very sick for no apparent reason. She couldn't stop vomiting, and when her stomach was empty she had dry heaves. Finally our vet thought to ask if I was letting her drink cow's milk. I was, and that turned out to be the problem. Around the same time, a friend of mine had a mysteriously sick puppy who was vomiting a lot and had dry heaves. Same cause, and both the kitty and puppy were fine when we stopped giving them milk.
Whatever is making your kitty ill, I hope she recovers soon.

(23,973 posts)I always hesitate to open threads like this because sad animal stories, even about people and animals I will never know, tear my heart out.
What was wrong with her?
IrishEyes
(3,275 posts)She was spayed recently. She wouldn't eat much afterwards. She ate less and less each time until she was eating nothing. They took x-rays and gave her an iv. I have to give her medicine and change her diet. She is better now. She is even playing with my other kitten. I think that she is going to be okay. She is a tough little kitten.

(20,174 posts)Anorexia is really dangerous for cats. If they don't get their protein it can damage their liver.
Thank you for spaying her

(2,015 posts)Kittens are very resilient for such tiny creatures. My now 5-year-old demon kitty underwent emergency surgery when she was 4 months old because she was eating my hair out of my hair brush and ended up with a blockage in her intestines. Scary times but she's in perfect health and my constant companion now. Hope Athena bounces back as well.
IrishEyes
(3,275 posts)She ate a decent amount of food yesterday and today. She played with the other kitten and chased some string. She seems okay. I'm new at having kittens.

(34,105 posts)but by now you must be good and hooked. No way can someone go back from that kind of cuteness. I am so happy your kitten is better. Even typing out the word kitten makes my heart all gooey!

(3,275 posts)They were strays that were rescued from the streets. Yes, I'm hooked. I love them both. I have had them for a few months. It is fun watching them grow. Life is just better with pets.

(32,967 posts)Mojo was likely 6 months old when she had 3 kittens, I got her and Majik; the other 2 were kept by their rescuer. The energy young kits have is amazingly impressive. Mine are 14 yrs old now, enjoy them always.
