Walking Dead actress tapped to play lead in the next Star Trek TV series

Does this mean RIP Sasha? While they say she'll continue on the show, if she's the lead in Star Trek, it might be tough since TWD films in Georgia.

Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Sasha Williams on AMC’s "The Walking Dead," is joining Starfleet as Lt. Cmdr. Rainsford on the upcoming CBS All Access series "Star Trek: Discovery."

Rainsford had been touted by the project’s original show runner, Bryan Fuller, as the central character of the show, and casting a female, nonwhite actress was a priority.

Martin-Green is the first African American woman to lead the cast of a "Star Trek" series. The most prominent African American female to date is Nichelle Nichols, who played Lt. Uhura in the original series.

TV? Yeah, Sasha is gone. My guess. But that would be alright if she gets to take out Negan. Baitball Blogger Dec 2016 #9

on TV shows. However, The Walking Dead films in the Atlanta area. STD is going to be filming in Toronto. While it's the same time zone, it's a long ways to be shuttling back and forth, especially if she's in a main role on STD.

It wouldn't make a lot of sense to give up a WD job for a network one, unless she knows she's been killed on WD.

By the way, I'll be pissed off if Andrew Lincoln doesn't get an Emmy for this season. He's been outstanding.

It will be on CBS All Access Pay online network. Plus, Netflix has bought the worldwide rights, so there is plenty of money in advance. STD will be budgeted at 7-8 million an episode with 13 episodes the first season.

but, I did not see him nominated for a Golden Globe, so I think he'd be a longshot to win an Emmy. Maybe a nomination?

she is the group sharpshooter after all. How often has she used that skill over the past season & a half?
