Any suggestions for a movie marathon?

As I mentioned in another post, Mrs. Obvious and I will be celebrating Christmas in what has become a tradition here at Obvious Manor:

"Mrs. Obvious and I will once again spend Christmas day watching an all-day movie marathon of related movies. We've done all three Back to the Futures last year, all the Planet of the Apes the year before that and all Lord of the Ringses before that. We'll not shower or get dressed properly and gorge on brick oven-baked pizza."

We've also done Star Trek, Alien(s), the Jurassic Park Series, and 2001/2010 in previous years, but I'm not sure what to watch this year. I realise this is late in the day, but I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Suggested by others so far:

The Godfather (vetoed by Mrs. Obvious)
The Hobbitses (suggestion greeted coldly by your humble correspondent)
Rocky (vetoed by both of us).

Anyone? Thanks in advance!

...they have a neat vibe of their own, get right what the comics do so well--the sense of a long history behind the characters and their world--and have some big-league actors: Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, Hugh Jackman, Franke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Hailie Berry...among many others.

If TV shows are on the table, I'd suggest a marathon of the 1980s Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series.

Especially "The Blue Carbuncle" which takes place at Christmastime.

With the devil?

That one is so disturbing!
If I'd seen it as a kid I would have been totally traumatized.
But it is a great episode of MST3K!!

I'm tempted to watch it later myself.

But, I probably won't. I'll probably stick with my Christmas Eve tradition of
"The Blue Carbuncle" from the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series.

+1 good choice on the Jeremy Brett Holmes story.

PS. Answering your question on Santa, yes that's the one. Rifftrax did it in the theater in 2014.

Not really "related," perhaps.....but funnier'n hell.

Selected episodes of The Twilight Zone, like:

the one where the aliens are transporting humans back to their home planet "to serve man"

For the finish, the episode with William Shatner on the airplane. Nothing anywhere can top that.

Let's Eat! marathon featuring Babette's Feast, Like Water for Chocolate, and Eat Drink Man Woman.

Dysfunctional Family Christmas with The Lion in Winter and The Ref, in which kidnapping, imprisonment, blackmail, and actual threat of death figure.

It's a Wonderful Daniel Auteuil, featuring comedies such as The Closet, My Best Friend, and Après Vous.

Have fun!

My husband watched them all day today - I think it's the ElRey Channel (on Prism TV).

I watched Doctor Who all day until they started running the past Christmas specials this evening. Then I watched some DVR'd TV shows. Now I' watching Christmas movies - the original Die Hard followed by Die Hard 2!
