As I mentioned in another post, Mrs. Obvious and I will be celebrating Christmas in what has become a tradition here at Obvious Manor:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1218&pid=241749
We've also done Star Trek, Alien(s), the Jurassic Park Series, and 2001/2010 in previous years, but I'm not sure what to watch this year. I realise this is late in the day, but I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Suggested by others so far:
The Godfather (vetoed by Mrs. Obvious)
The Hobbitses (suggestion greeted coldly by your humble correspondent)
Rocky (vetoed by both of us).
Anyone? Thanks in advance!

(4,858 posts)...they have a neat vibe of their own, get right what the comics do so well--the sense of a long history behind the characters and their world--and have some big-league actors: Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, Hugh Jackman, Franke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Hailie Berry...among many others.

(27,083 posts)If TV shows are on the table, I'd suggest a marathon of the 1980s Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series.
Especially "The Blue Carbuncle" which takes place at Christmastime.

That one is so disturbing!
If I'd seen it as a kid I would have been totally traumatized.
But it is a great episode of MST3K!!
I'm tempted to watch it later myself.
But, I probably won't. I'll probably stick with my Christmas Eve tradition of
"The Blue Carbuncle" from the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series.

(45,464 posts)+1 good choice on the Jeremy Brett Holmes story.
PS. Answering your question on Santa, yes that's the one. Rifftrax did it in the theater in 2014.

(2,810 posts)That and the Santa Clause episodes were gifted to people today who backed the MST3k kickstarter. So I know what I'll be watching tonight!

My wife and I watched those in quick succession and we really enjoyed them. There's quite a bit of realism in regards to relationships, not just a bunch of hokey movie cliches.
Happy holidays, Obviously!

Life of Brian (wrong manger! ), Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Meaning of Life--Oh, GAWD, there's enough laughs in there to carry you through to next year's marathon!

Selected episodes of The Twilight Zone, like:
the one where the aliens are transporting humans back to their home planet "to serve man"
For the finish, the episode with William Shatner on the airplane. Nothing anywhere can top that.
