Name a popular movie and TV series you've seen...

...(at least 30 minutes of) and just don't like.

For me, The Godfather movies were like baseball, 15 minutes of excitement packed into 3 hours.

Seinfeld, I like Jerry; I don't get the others at all.

Jody Foster is supposed to pick the brain of a evil cannibal mastermind to solve a murder, but Anthony Hopkins only solves it because he personally knows who did it.

I give up on TV shows very quickly. I had high hopes for The Man in the High Castle but turned it off after about 30 minutes. Too much James Bond-like beating the odds. I have read that season 2 of that show really drops off anyway.

And, man oh man, do I dislike The Big Bang Theory! No laughs for me at all.

As for movies, the wife and I are very discerning about what we go to see. It's usually not the popular ones, it's the low-budget and foreign ones.

The Apprentice......
Star Wars...... saw a few, was lightly entertained, might watch one I haven't seen on TV but won't pay for it.
Survivor...... I don't get the rules, it reminds me of chemistry class, plenty of unrelated crap wrapped up together.

The movie reboots were varied for me. I liked the first a lot.

I like Batman Begins.

Rambo, Die Hard, Heat, Face Off, Alcatraz, Family Ties . . .

Of the newer stuff: Arrow, Grey's Anatomy, The Voice, Elementary

I could go on and on.

As to the Godfather, I think it would be a great film if they edited out the 20 minutes where he walked aimlessly in the Sicilian countryside. That was boring story-wise and boring visually: too much tan color as far as the eye could see and that supposed love story between Al Pacino and the girl who didn't speak English I found wholly unbelievable as well. Godfather II, which included no aimless wandering in Sicily, was FAR superior.

Rambo & Die Hard: Watched a few in the series. Rambo 2008 was watchable if you're okay with blood. I only really like Die Hard 4 out of the series.

Heat & Alcatraz: I can't remember very well so it weren't that good.
Face Off: Never saw it or saw part or gave up after it started
Family Ties: mindless but acceptable.

All that newer stuff I never saw.

Both Godfather films moved too slowly for me. Whatever they were conveying was lost.

I turned it off after the first 10 minutes, wherein the lead characters are standing next to an exploding aircraft full of of fuel and get off without so much as a singed eyelash.

But maybe I haven't seen at least 30 minutes of Friends.

One of my kids watched every episode of Friends, for fun and research, and wrote a few college papers about it. A Friends expert, of sort...

I couldn't stand Seinfield, the bits I've suffered are mean and cynical, but far too shallow. When I'm looking for mean and cynical give me a grouchy old George Carlin.

I consider The Big Chill a horror film. When I was forced to sit through it on a date that was rapidly going downhill, I remember thinking if I ever became any of those people I'd have to kill myself. The only character I identified with was the dead guy.
