You've probably been playing Hangman wrong your entire life



I can't remember the last time I played Hangman. I found dots and boxes more interesting from a strategery pov. But for anyone still playing Hangman, or just fascinated with breaking cyphers, this was interesting:

Since ‘E' is the most popular letter in English text, it will have the highest probability of being in our word, right?

Wrong!

Yes, the ordering above is an accurate portrayal of the frequency of usage of letters in English text, and if we were examining English text it is what we should be using …

… But, we're not looking at pages of text, we're looking at isolated words.

This has always cracked my kids up.

Dad is groaningly known as the "WORST HANGMAN PLAYER IN THE WORLD".

I am lucky that he is not competitive and understands the value of a
durable inside joke.

He picked a classmate he would draw and make very creative and funny drawings such as drawing a big hairy nose, that kind of thing.
