I must say, that I'm really lost about the direction of Rachel Maddow's show... She seems like she's been phoning it in for the last few years. I listen to her podcast to fall asleep rather than watch the show... And I don't get why she simply repeats the same phrases and contentions over and over and over. Unlike Joy, Alex, and Chris... Her show is heavily scripted, but written to mimic casual conversation which is awkward. 80% of the show is just her talking, setting up a premise for an interviewee to simply confirm her set-up was correct for a minute or so... then, "Thank you, we are out of time"
Am I the only one that feels like this? I feel like I must be off-base somehow.

(6,931 posts)the only one. I might not judge quite so harshly, but my view is that she overexplains things. This can be good, because context is always always important. But it also has the downside of being overly written, and sometimes boring. However, the one thing I can't get past with her is her willingness to give a pass to other journalists, even when they don't deserve it.
Lawrence O'Donnell, on the other hand, is the BEE'S KNEES. And I've sorely missed the intelligence and wit of Alex Wagner, so having her presence back is awesome. I just might start watching tv again. LOL
