Made my first ventures into online gaming...
We bought an XBox One for Christmas, and I figured it would be fun to try out the online modes.
So, with Halo, I tried some kind of squad vs. squad shooting match, and I was killed about twelve times in the first minute, which includes a four-second respawn delay after each death.
I then tried a first-person Mech game called Hawken, and I was killed at least as often and as quickly. In addition, the respawn point is a 30-second hike from the actual site of the battle, so spent a lot of time running through empty streets in order to get myself in front of a lethal exploding warhead ASAP.
What puzzles me is that I can go up against an identically outfitted mech, and even if I get four or five shots in before my opponent turns around, they invariably (and immediately) blast me to cinders using the same weaponry! I'm not emotionally invested in the game, so it simply seems comical to me rather than infuriating. But I can say with confidence that I am not a great asset on the battlefield.
Also, my coworker assures me that the expert assassins who vaporize me are almost certainly ten or eleven years old.
