Cultural historians suggest that resourceful and creative housewives of the era created the recipe as a way of not wasting over-ripe bananas. In fact, the riper the bananas, the better the taste of the banana bread, so it ended up being a very clever creation! Actually, my dogs would probably "go bananas" for a banana-flavored biscuit. These home-made biscuits do look good enough for people! (courtesy of Pinterest):

4. I used bone-shaped cookie cutters of different sizes to match the size of the dog

I even did a lower-fat version for dogs that were not so svelte.

For a few years they were in huge demand and I was baking them for a lot of friends who had dogs. For Christmas I dyed them red and green and gave them as gifts in Christmas cookie tins. Never thought of adding banana, though. I used things like beef granules and garlic and onion powder and powdered milk and lard.
