Everyone in that family was decent. I wish we could go back to more people like the Ford family.
When he died, I went down to watch the procession bring his body back from Joint Base Andrews into DC. I wasn't the only one there. After all the ceremonies were over in DC, his body was flown back west. The plane carrying his body flew over Alexandria, where he lived for so many years. I saw it fly over. People on board could look and see his house. I have a lot of respect for him and Betty and everyone else.
They were good people. If only we could see the likes of them again.
You can keep Chevy Chase. I'll take Gerald, Betty, Steve, Jack, and Susan any day.
