No power: Day 3

Had a fierce windstorm blow through Western, NY on Wednesday afternoon.

Lost power almost immediately on Wednesday around noon. Almost 80,000 without service in our county, and well over 100K in the surrounding area.

Hopefully by 4 p.m. is what we're being told.

Gonna be into the low teens and twenties all weekend, it's 48 in our home currently.

Got a generator running the vitals. Including coffee.

Not sure what my motivation is in sharing this, I guess just musing to pass the time...

Anyone else in WNY riding this out as well?

I hope power is up soon. I'll be heading from WI to Cooperstown over spring break. I'll wave! (insert waving emoji here)

March is the cruelest month. I live on the other side of the state. We've had the fierce wind too but not nearly as bad as you. I remember some years ago we were w/o power for 3 days in February. we did have a wood stove which kept us from dying of exposure in our own house. My brother lives 5 miles away and had power so we went there and took showers. It really sucked. Hang in there, hope they get it sorted out really soon!

We were without power for several days once... we huddled around the fireplace and cooked our meals in it. It was like camping.... but way colder. After that, we bought a generator! Knock on wood, we haven't had to use it. *

Hope you didn't lose loads of perishable food. It happened to us once right after I got back from a $150 grocery run, in August.
