(10,291 posts)I am serving pot luck everything. Hit the local vineyard and pick up a couple cases...hit the farmer's market and pick up something seriously fresh.
Everyone can have a seat at my table.

(149,297 posts)Thank You for inviting me to your dinner party! I am honored to be included in such an illustrious bunch.
You're right on about DFW........I've been lucky enough to have met him and his beautiful wife last summer. My husband and I hosted them here. We had a blast, needless to say.
IF we could resurrect some of our dear departed DU'ers, I'd invite WCGreen, Khashka, Redstone and MiddleFingerMom. Sterling characters, all of them, and so funny and smart.
furtheradu
(1,865 posts)I was here in the early DU days. .
I was lucky & BLESSED to have a few interactions with WCGREEN ~&~ Middle Finger Mom..
they are remembered STILL.
So, they WILL be at our DU dinner party. No doubt about it.
DFW
(54,050 posts)And my wife is a gourmet chef, so just turn her loose in the kitchen with whatever's there, and no one will go home hungry!
Like Peggy mentioned, we've met, so I'm ready to meet the rest of you!
furtheradu
(1,865 posts)Mmm, fresh peaches for Your PIE, cinnamon & a pinch of nutmeg!
Ps. Bluebonnets have come on early & strong this year! Hope You can see them, online or in person!
DFW
(54,050 posts)But she hates intercontinental travel for short trips, so if we have to trek over to North America, it'll have to be combined with with something else we do. Maybe visit our daughter in NYC and my brother in DC on the way home. If I bring her, no one will pay any attention to me (EVERYBODY loves her), which leaves me time to demolish the peach pie at my own pace. Fair warning.
furtheradu
(1,865 posts)& Your PIE shall be known as
"Pace YourSelf Peach Pie"!
You want ice cream on that? I say yes!
DFW
(54,050 posts)However, if you have some well-made cinnamon or vanilla bean ice cream, I guess I'd have no choice but to make an exception.
I just did that tonight, actually. I had a late lunch with an old friend (former German radio news station chief in Moscow), in Köln, so I wasn't very hungry when I got home this evening. So.....I opened a piece of sheep's cheese I had gotten at a farmer's market in Barcelona last Saturday morning before I left to fly up here to Germany. I tried a slice just now. It took all of my wobbly discipline to wrap the rest back up. It was like a feta, but with the consistency of a young Gouda or Gruyère. YUM!!! Also, I saw that my daughter had forgotten to take back to Frankfurt her sheep's/goat cheese sampler I had brought for her (wheel with 4 quarters of different kinds) from the same market. The question is, will it still be here for her to collect on her next visit? I'm not sure yet, but any bookie that is giving odds on her finding it still intact at her next visit is doing his customers a disservice.

SO! What kinda PIE for YOU?!
NightWatcher
(39,343 posts)We have this upscale grocer Fresh Market that sells a chocolate fudge pie that's yummy.
If however you are an excellent pie baker, I'll take a straight up lattice apple pie with no ice cream on the side.
furtheradu
(1,865 posts)I'll bake a
"NightWatcher Straight UP Lattice Apple PIE" ,
just for You, & send You HOME with the easy recipe.
Not sure exactly where to get Lattice Apples, this time of year, but I'll figure it out.

(54,050 posts)Q: Right there with Bill Clinton.
A: I like Bill, by the way. If there were only one cherry pie in the world, and Bill Clinton owned it, I might get a piece of it. If Bush or Reagan owned it, you'd have to kill them to get a piece of pie.
