Who should be Depp's Nora?

Chicago's Rob Marshall will direct a new version of The Thin Man starring Johnny Depp as Nick Charles. EW magazine reports that the role of Nora has not been cast and offers these recs:

Amy Adams, Rachel Weisz, Carey Mulligan,

Emma Stone, Emily Blunt, Kristen Wiig, Ilsa Fisher

Of that group Emily Blunt is my fave.

Yeah, yeah Captain Jack, yeah yeah, but time and again he is trodding upon familiar ground. And when he isn't doing a ROLE that someone played before he is often doing an actual person. Creepy.

Oh well, hope he doesn't get shot in the tabloids as that can really hurt.

an interpreter. That being said, I don't much care for his work.

3. No one. why remake a movie that got it so right the first time?

Much as I like Depp and pretty much all of the above actors I think it's pretty pathetic on the part of the backers, producer and director. It's not like there aren't thousands of good scripts out there looking to be made into movies.

Well, the early ones anyway. Remakes are hard to do better than the original.

I wouldn't mind seeing a movie about the Thin Man movies though. A behind the scenes thing like...umm...Ed Wood!

12. Christ, I am beginning to reallyt loathe the man....

I used to really enjoy his work, but I am finding myself pretty repulsed by his recent work. "Pirates"? Bloated crap. "Sweeney"? Totally out of his depth. "Charlie"? Tired, tired, tired. "Alice"? Bleck. When I saw him as Barnabas Collins I was disappointed -- they are going for schtick.

And now he's going to fuck with "The Thin Man"????

Someone, please stop him before he kills another film with is presence.
