How young Perlman and Barenboim look..

And with every Beethoven piece, you know it is Beethoven even if you are not familiar with the specific work.

Last weekend we went to a live convert. Mozart Symphony 36, Mendelssohn violin, and Beethoven second symphony.

What was interesting to me, was that in the program notes they listed the instruments for each piece: 2 oboes, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, timpani and others and then "strings." "Strings?" - that's half the orchestra..

Again, thanks for making my Sunday morning a civilized affair.
